I'm Dangerous with Love

I'm Dangerous with Love is a 85 min. documentary by Michel Negroponte concerning addiction and rehabilitation, activism and shamanism. It tells the story of Dimitri Mugianis who starts out as the heavily addicted front man for the band Leisure Class and ends his long drug and alcohol addiction with an experimental treatment that use ibogaine, a psychoactive substance extracted  from the roots of the African shrub Tabernanthe Iboga.
I'm Dangerous with Love is an underground adventure that traces Dimitri's risky journey as he treats desperate drug users. But then one session goes bad in a remote snowed-in Canadian home and a quiet young man almost dies. Dimitri must decide whether or not to continue his mission. Is it serving the addicts or simply releasing his own demons?
Dimitri travels to Gabon, West Africa, to consult with Bwiti shamans, and put himself through a punishing iboga initiation in search of guidance....
I'm Dangerous with Love

( Ibogaine is a controlled substance in USA (Schedule 1 c.s.) and other Western countries and its healing/ritual use is currently illegal. The Harm Reduction Coalition has started the Bwiti Now! fund to support the recognition of Bwiti in U.S. as a religion and legalize iboga as a sacred plant medicine and sacrament of the Bwiti practice.

The Magic Trip

Alex Gibney and Alison Ellwood’s MAGIC TRIP is a freewheeling portrait of Ken Kesey and the Merry Prankster’s fabled road trip across America in the legendary Magic Bus. In 1964, Ken Kesey, the famed author of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” set off on a legendary, LSD-fuelled cross-country road trip to the New York World’s Fair. He was joined by “The Merry Band of Pranksters,” a renegade group of counterculture truth-seekers, including Neal Cassady, the American icon immortalized in Kerouac’s “On the Road,” and the driver and painter of the psychedelic Magic Bus. Kesey and the Pranksters intended to make a documentary about their trip, shooting footage on 16MM, but the film was never finished and the footage has remained virtually unseen. With MAGIC TRIP, Gibney and Ellwood were given unprecedented access to this raw footage by the Kesey family. They worked with the Film Foundation, HISTORY and the UCLA Film Archives to restore over 100 hours of film and audiotape, and have shaped an invaluable document of this extraordinary piece of American history.

Paul Newman R.I.P.

I'm a little late but couldn't help but remember the great Paul Newman, one of the best actors ever, the last of Hollywood old lions, a sensitive, generous man and civil rights activist. We'll miss him.
