The Art of Phil Lewis

octopus

The first time I saw the art of Phil Lewis, it remembered me a lot the psychedelic drawings of many of the most talented friends I had back in the '70s, when a lot of people passed smoky hours trying to put on paper what was in their overstimulated brains. Needless to say that the results were variable, depending on the individual artistic skills, even though I have to say that most were remarkable at least for what concerned creativity and inspiration.

Of course Phil, born in Canada to Welsh parents and raised in California, works on a different level. hHe's a talented artist, whose current style combines pen-on-paper and computer. He starts out with very small pen drawings, then scanned into Photoshop and enlarged for digital output. The images are enlarged and digitally printed on canvas. This peculiar method gives life to beautifully colored pictures, absolutely fascinating and evocative...Visit Phil's site here
