As said, "Life's just a point of view" or even better, "Reality is just a point of view". Some people have intensely worked in changing our perception of reality and shifting our paradigms. Amomg these people the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann, who accidentally (?) discovered the Lsd molecule on April 16, 1943. The good doctor celebrated his 102nd birthday in Basel among friends and other psychedelic luminaries (in Basel the Gaia Media Foundation organized the 'Lsd Conference' in 2007 and the 'World Psychedelic Forum' this year in March, with more than 50 lecturers and 2000 attendees.)
Albert will be happy to see that his 'problem child' is maybe actually becoming his expected 'wonder drug', with the growing insurgence of the scientific interest in psychedelic substances as therapeutic tools. Clinical trials with human volunteers are currently under way (after 40 year of ostracism and taboos caused by the hinfamous 'War on (some) drugs') for example in USA, Switzerland and Germany for the treatment of chronic depression, psychiatric disorders, post traumatic stress disorders, drug and alcohol dependency and in pain and agoning situations therapies.
In USA this revival of scientifically-approved and socially-accepted use of psychoactive compounds like Lsd,Mdma or ibogaine is primarily due to the continuous and skill work of Rick Doblin and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.
I strongly suggest to visit their interesting site: http://www.maps.org/
and read the several articles about the psychedelic therapy on the Scientific American site, for example:
