RIP Hans Rudi Giger
The renowned Swiss artist Hans Rudi Giger, who was internationally well known for his "bio-mechanical" dark surreal paintings had died on May 12 at the age of 74 for injuries sustained in a fall.
In 1980 he earned an Oscar for the Alien creature in Ridley Scott's cult film and his covers for Debby Harry ("KooKoo", 1981) and British progressive band Emerson Lake & Palmer ("Brain Salad Surgery", 1971)were voted among the best 100 album covers in music history by rock journalists.
In the summer of 1998 he inaugurated the H.R. Giger Museum in the medieval Swiss city of Gruyeres, a permanent exhibition of the artist paintings, sculptures and artifacts.
A great visionary artist, who inspired so many painters and people in general, has left our dimension... rip master.
