Happy Ganesh Chaturthi !
Ganesha Chaturthi is the (Hindu) celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha - also known by the names of Ganapati and Vinayaka - is the son of Shiva and Parvati and a deity associated with wisdom, art and erudition. He is the God of new beginnings and the divine remover of obstacles, therefore he is praised at the beginning of a journey, on occasion of commercial enterprises, artistic works or difficult tasks in general. Ganesha's 'Gayatri mantra' (Om Ekadantaya Vidmahe, Vakratundaya Dhimahi, Tanno Danti Prachodayat*) is repeated three times before the beginning of religious rituals and offerings. Today, September 13, is the culmination of Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations and so a very auspicious day for invoking the blessing of this benign and powerful deity. May Ganesh protect and lead all of us on the path of material fulfillment and spiritual realization....Jai Ganesha! Victory to Ganesha, victory to beauty and wisdom !
(* Ganesha Gayatri Mantra: 'We meditate upon and pray for greater intellect the One with a single tusk, Who is omnipresent and has a curved trunk, we bow before the One with a single tusked tooth and pray Him to illuminate our minds with wuisdom' )
