Nierika Art

Traditionally made with colored wool yarn pressed onto beeswax spread on a board and depicting the spiritual symbolism of the Huichol people of North Mexico (peyote, maze, deer, sun, fire, ancestors etc.), the nierika are a sort of portal to subtler, spiritual dimensions. See here few examples of nierika, made by the renowned shaman/artist Jose Benitez Sanchez (1938 - 2000)
