Legal and illegal

Personally I haven't particular prejudices about people's preferences on various substances. I mean, if you like to put something white in your nose or even shoot up something brown in the privacy of your home and nobody else is affected in any manner, it's okay with me. Problems begin when you act as a violent thug to procure the substance you like (but that's another question mostly pertaining to prohibitionist politics...) If you like to drink a lot of cocktails and then have a good time with friends, again, no problem. Problems begin if you drink and then became an aggressive dickhead, beat your partner or drive without control your new sport car...That said, seeing these photos I understand why drinking was in general considered 'uncool' during the sixties and people preferred other, more peaceful and meditative types of 'highs'. Effectively you'll never see someone smoking joints (even a lot of them) or taking entheogens and end the 'game' in these sad conditions; furthermore alcohol kills thousand of people every year and many kills while drunk but, you know, alcohol is legal, largely accepted and openly advertised while other substances, far more benign, are considered the 'absolute evil' and the people who use them the 'bad ones' worthy of harsh penalties and social contempt. Let's hope things will change one day...preferably soon...
