Maha Kumbha Mela 2013

The Kumbha Mela is a Hindu mass spiritual gathering held every third year at one of the four sacred sites of Haridwar, Allahabad, Nasik and Ujjain. The Maha Kumbha Mela (lit.: "Great Pilgrimage of the Pitcher) happens every 12 years in Allahabad. The Maha Kumbha Mela 2013 began in Prayag (Allahabad) on January 10 and will culminate on February 10, when holy men and pilgrims will take the most auspicious ritual bath at the Sangam (confluence) of the sacred rivers Ganges, Yamuna and (the mythical) Saraswati.
Calculations aren't easy, but some extimate that the current Maha Kumbha Mela - considered the "greatest gathering on Earth" - sees the participation of 10 millions+ pilgrims and at least 1 million sadhus and babas (holy men.)
