Heidi Taillefer lives and works in Montreal, Quebec. Born in 1970, she began drawing at the age of three, having been raised in a family rich in creative talent. After a decade of private art lessons in watercolour technique at the La Palette School of Art in Beaconsfield Quebec, she found herself in hot pursuit of careers in both fine art and illustration.
She is self-taught in oils and acrylic, having developed a style known for it’s mechanical overtones and symbolic fusion of elements. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, and dons the covers of various books and magazines. She has exhibited her paintings through venues across North America, including the McAllen International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, Texas.
The recurring theme of Taillefer’s paintings over the years has been a blurring of the line between the organic and the inanimate. She painstakingly assembles living things, horses, cherubs, elephants, sheep and the occasional pregnant woman, out of precisely, seemingly incongruous objects.
Heidi is best known for having designed the internationally recognized image of Dralion for the Cirque du Soleil in 1999.
