Summertime

Tomorrow I'll reach my country home with my family. There I haven't home connection, so I'll get to go to the local 'Internet point' (once or twice in a week) to check out my mail box and post new things here. So please consider all that, be patient and keep on visiting every few days...In September Terra Incognita will be 'full time' again...

Have a nice, happy and fruitful summer, friends and...keep up the vibe!!

Canned Heat's Future Blues

"Hallelujah" (1968) by the Canned Heat was the first album I bought in my life. Immediately I loved Bear's and Owl's voices and the great blues that those great musicians played. Thanks to this video we can go back to their music and times (with a beautiful 'solo' by Harvey Mandel) for some minutes...

Free Casey Hardison

From the video description:
Casey Hardison is currently serving a 20 year sentence in the UK for the manufacture of LSD, DMT and 2C-B. He is fighting a legal battle through the UK legal system and the European Court of Human Rights challenging the arbitrary, irrational and discriminatory drug laws which have resulted in his conviction.
This speech was recorded from prison and played in the closing ceremony of the World Psychedelic Forum in Basel in March 2008.

Too often we forget our brothers and sisters who are doin' time just for their love of our sacraments. I think that remembering and supporting them is one of our main duties...

Great Movie Drug Scenes: Boogie Nights

Boogie Nights is a 1997 Golden Globe winning movie written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia, There Will Be Blood...)

The film depicts the pornographic film industry of the late 1970s and early 1980s as seen through the life of a young porn star, Dirk Diggler, played by Mark Wahlberg. This film details his discovery by porn director Jack Horner (based on William Margold), played by Burt Reynolds. The story concerns Diggler's entry into the business, his rise to stardom, and his eventual downfall due to cocaine and methamphetamine-induced paranoia and impotence, having become an arrogant "star". It ends with his reconciliation with Horner. (Wiki)

Featuring several great movie-stars like Julian Moore, John C. Reilly and Philip S. Hoffman, Boogie Nights has one of the greatest drug scene ever seen on the screen: pursuing their dream of forming an early 80's rock band, Dirk (Wahlberg) and Reed (Reilly), along with their mutual friend, Todd (Thomas Jane), attempt to scam an associate, Rahad Jackson (Alfred Molina), into purchasing a half-kilo of baking soda, which they claim is cocaine. During the deal, Todd attempts a much larger robbery and is killed during the ensuing gunfight. Dirk and Reed barely escape the house alive.
Tension at greatest levels, a completely 'freak out' situation and a simply astounding Molina... Enjoy the scene

William & Timothy

Timothy Leary’s estate, the Futique Trust, is auctioning off a an original painting from the infamous Shotgun Art series of William S. Burroughs. The piece was a gift to Leary from Burroughs in the late '80s.

The painting, which hung in the Leary’s living room for years, is being auctioned on Ebay with a starting bid of $85,000. A blog has been set up to track the auction action and discuss the painting and its connection to Tim's huge archive, which is also for sale (but not on Ebay).

Before his death in 1996, Dr. Leary became fascinated with virtual experiences, and was an early advocate of the WWW and virtual reality/worlds. One of his last wishes was for his entire archive to be made available through the internet. The Trust has been working with Brewster Kahle at the Internet Archive to fulfill Tim's wish of making it available to the world.

The Leary Archive is full of primary source documents chronicling the birth of the psychedelic movement including photographs and letters from countless celebrities of the counterculture movement. It also includes everything from Tim's baby pictures and unpublished writings to Harvard LSD sessions and a seldom seen Folsom prison video.

The Collage Art of Satty

Satty (Wilfred Podriech), born in Brennen, Germany in 1939, began making pictorial collages in 1966, inspired by the openness and creativity of San Francisco's hippie era. He became a prolific artist, creating hundreds of black and white collages, many of them printed by the becoming poster market and in the underground and establishment press. He produced two collage books, The Cosmic Bycicle and Time Zone, and his work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums. Terence McKenna chose the Satty's collages to illustrate his Archaic Revival book.

Satty died in San Francisco in 1982.

You can read something about Satty here, see some of his collages here and some posters here

The Great Graphic Art of Alan Aldridge

Few days ago surfing the Net I stumbled in some works of the renowned artist Alan Aldridge (1943) and suddenly I remembered when I saw his beautiful works for the first time. It was back in the '70s, when I bought "The Beatles lyrics" (1969) and was totally fascinated by the Aldridge's visual comments to the Fab Four's songs. Looking those pictures and in general the other great visionary works (album covers, posters, etc.) that Aldridge made in the past forty years, I have to say that in some ways we underestimated this artist (who greatly helped to make the so-called 'psychedelic art' mainstream) and didn't give him all the merits he certainly deserves. I try to correct that posting my personal tribute here and urging all of view to visit his nice site

Making pop corns with your cell...

Ever thought that your cell phone could damage your brain, literally frying it? Well, see this video and learn how to make pop corns without a 'pop corn machine' at hand (then throw out your cell and go back to the most safe 'home pigeons'....!)

Fortunately it seems that this video is just a fake - or at least many say so...Anyway try to avoid potential damages and learn to use your cell phone wisely (not like an addicting drug)

Miracles of Nature

This isn't an alien organism or a submarine creature, but just the wonderful flower of the Stapelia flavopurpurea succulent...What a magnificent example of the miracles of nature!
