Keiichi Tanami

I have to admit that until recent times I didn't know anything about the great Japanese artist Keiichi Tanami (born 1936.) Now I do appreciate a lot his astounding works and know that back in the '60s he was one of the prominent artists in the Andy Warhol's Factory, later moving to San Francisco further experimenting with visionary drugs - in particulat the then fashion LSD - and refining his psychedelic art.
In 1979 he was appointed as the first Art Director of Playboy (Japanese edition) and since 1991 he's also professor of Art and Design at Kyoto University.
Painter, graphic, video and poster artist, photographer and all-round creative genius, Tanami is certainly one of the most eclectic and visionary artist, in Japan and at international level.
